Responsive environments—by definition spaces that interact with the people who use them, pass through them or by them—have in a very short space of time become ubiquitous.”

Lucy Bullivant, V&A Contemporary Publications.

Néill O'Dwyer is researching art that externalises bodily movement via the electro-physical flux of urban environments—public and private spaces that objectify the collective narratives, trajectories and data-contrails of individuals and groups. The concept of connectivity has literally seeped into the cells and membrane of the buildings we inhabit; by virtue of cybernetic systems individuals have been absorbed into the fabric of built space. His work reacts to this theme: Absorption of the self into computer system.
